Barta Öreg Király Dűlő Szamorodni 2016
For Tokaj, 2016 was a cool vintage that produced Szamorodni-style wines with very nice, long and structured acidity.
The bunches were destemmed and the berries macerated for three hours before a very gentle pressing. The juice was settled at 8°C for 24hours, then racked by gravity into 220-litre Szerednyei barrels (MT TH). The fermentation started at 15°C. When the wine reached a good balance, it was chilled down to 5°C and -gravity-racked by gravity and sulphured. Aged for 13 months in oak, then 2 more years in the bottle.
Delightful aromas of citrus, apricot and propolis greet you, followed by elegance in the palate with the creaminess and oiliness of avocado. Its beautiful acid structure is in superb, elegant balance with the residual sugar. The flavours linger long after drinking.
